Silver Ghost Wines is an offshoot of Montagu Wines, a family owned company founded by Weston Eidson, which came about as a result of Weston's work with Jason Moore from Modus Operandi Cellars during the 2012 Napa harvest. Along with Jason’s help and a phenomenal 2012 vintage, the excitement of winemaking helped Weston turn his love for wine into his own company. Weston’s hard work and enthusiasm for the winemaking industry has led to a collection of wonderfully balanced and innovative wines.
It may sound counterintuitive to call someone making classically styled Cabernet in Napa innovative, but that’s exactly what Weston is doing with Silver Ghost. The easy way for new brands to launch is raise a bunch of money, purchase simple fruit, and try selling the wine for $100 or more. It takes determination and a real love for the category to work with grape growers to craft something like Silver Ghost. This remains one of the best values in domestic wine, period.
