The Joseph Jewell 2020 Eel River Valley Pinot Noir is an appellation blend of five organically farmed vineyards in Humboldt County, perhaps the most "on the fringe" of California's winemaking communities. There's a mix of delicacy and strength here, as the red fruit set straddles the line of tart vs. ripe in a remarkable way. But the texture is what stands out, it's a winner.
Like so many micro-lot production wineries, Joseph Jewell Wines started out as a hobby, where Adrian was focused on making exceptional Pinot Noir for himself, his family, and their friends to enjoy. Now, Adrian is making wines from vineyards up and down the northern California coast, attracting praise from renowned critics and a growing following among west coast sommeliers and restaurant directors.
