It doesn’t take long to see why Blair started Guthrie Family Wines as his creative outlet to supplement his day job of crafting the critically acclaimed wines of Stewart Cellars. As the name suggests though, it’s still all in the family. As he puts it, the wines he makes represent everything he loves and believes in: love for wine, family, and the dream that he lives everyday in wine country.
While Blair’s work at Stewart Cellars is about high-end, flashy Napa Cab, Guthrie Family Wines fashions itself as more of a glou-glou line of wines. That is, they’re for early drinking and much less pomp and circumstance. Blair utilizes whole cluster fermentation basically across the board and works with grapes like Carignan, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Picpoul, and more.
