The 2023 Gros Ventre Vermentino from California's high-elevation El Dorado AVA is as crisp and refreshing as it gets. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in 100% neutral oak, this wine underwent 100% whole cluster fermentation and is bursting with stone fruit flavors and lipsmacking acidity. This is a great wine to pair with lighter fare or to enjoy on its own.
Gros Ventre winemaker, Chris Pittenger, has the kind of pedigree that should attract any kind of wine enthusiast to try, and ultimately fall in love with, his wines. Heading the winemaking at classic projects like Skinner Vineyards and Limerick Lane helped establish Chris in his place as a bit of a “whisperer” to grapes like Zinfandel and vineyards near Skinner’s outpost in the Sierra Foothills. Of course, he’s also shown a tremendous touch with Pinot Noir, sourced from some of the most celebrated sites in Sonoma and Anderson Valley.
